I’ve been hanging out at 174.4 for two whole weeks now. It’s not the end of the world or anything, I’m not in a rut, but I am anxious to keep the scale moving in a downward motion. The last couple of weeks I’ve had quite a few people comment on how different I look and that they can see a huge difference. So since I didn’t have anything new to tell, I thought I would post a pic that shows where I was this Summer before starting on this journey and a pic of where I am today. I had a little bit of trouble deciding which ones showed best how I look, so there ended up being two each.
It’s clear that I have a long way to go yet, but halfway is a good thing to celebrate and be proud of. So today, I celebrate being halfway to my goal and I will enjoy this accomplishment for a moment before once again freaking out because the dial hasn’t moved.

Hi!!
I don’t know you but I saw your blog and just wanted to say “way to go!!!” What an amazing accomplishment to lose 30 pounds! You look beautiful in your pictures! Because of a cancer scare I had, we (my family and I) began eating a plant based diet on January 1 of this year. This was a HUGE deal for us, because we LOVE meat, cheese and dairy products. Our new way of eating has revolutionized our lives. I think we all have been surprised by the changes we’ve experienced, not only in how we look, but how we feel. It is truly amazing. Though our reason for changing our diet was not to lose weight, that has been a welcome bonus, especially for my husband. He has struggled with his weight for some time. He has lost 27 pounds since January 1, just by eating different. He is now feeling so much better that he is starting to exercise, too. It is so exciting to see him feeling good and making such a positive change in his life! I will have to check back to see your progress! Just know that you are not alone, there are others out there that want to be in the 5 percent too! Good luck on your journey to good health!!

Hi Lynn,
I’m so happy to hear about your life change. It’s amazing how much better we feel eating this way. We were big meat eaters, as well. My hair dresser was just telling me today that usually when a customer loses this much weight it shows in their hair. It becomes brittle and damaged looking. My hair is very healthy and strong and that’s even with me getting it colored every 4 weeks to cover the gray! I think it speaks volumes to just how healthy a plant-based diet really is.
My health scare was more my own fears than anything. With my family history, I knew my weight was really putting me in the danger zone especially with 40 just around the corner. I wanted to do something now, rather than trying to correct a potential health issue after it was too late and already had a diagnosis in my hand.
Please keep me posted on your family’s progress. It’s awesome to hear from so many people while on this journey. You inspire me to keep at it.

Congrats on hitting the half way point. You are half way to your goal and that is an accomplishment worth celebrating.
Thank you so much! It’s hard to stop and celebrate the moment when there’s still so much to do, but that was the whole point of this post. To focus on what I’ve done so far and truly be proud of myself, rather than disappointed because the scale hasn’t moved in 2 weeks. It’s hard to allow ourselves these little moments. I’m truly trying to handle this journey differently than I have in the past with crash diets where the whole focus was how fast the scale moved. It’s a different mindset that I definitely am still adjusting to. I appreciate the encouragement.
